Helpful tips for new dads

First of all CONGRATULATIONS on becoming a dad and just so you know, the days ahead are going to be exciting, yet daunting!

With a little one arriving in your home, you will be procuring a lot of new gear & baby essentials, like cot, baby swing, bath essentials, car seat, and so on. However, it is not just this preparation, since you will face lack of sleep & intense emotions, and taking care of your partner as well.

So, in this blog, you would be better able to figure out what are all the things that you should keep up with while having a newborn for the very first time.

Jumping in everyday baby chores

Everyday activities like changing nappies, settling, dressing, feeding food to babies, and bathing-like tasks give you hands-on experience. The more you will get yourself involved in daily activities, the more it will chip into your mind.

Working out your baby's chores on a regular basis will also relieve your partner and with time when your baby grows all these efforts will turn into fruitful results. Do not feel overburdened with anything, just try to keep a balance between your office work, baby chores and emotions.

Helping your partner with the baby

This could be another way to start with the dad thing. You can do the bedding, clear the couch when your partner is breastfeeding the baby, clean the room and the mess of the baby, changing nappies, will be a good division of responsibility.

Before the baby arrives you can do good research on how to swaddle a baby and where to find organic baby essentials, organic bedding, blankets and soft nappies.

You should think of chemical-free and organic baby essentials to protect your baby’s skin from any harsh materials.

Search for baby essentials

You can look for websites and stores where you get organic baby essentials like swaddles, nappies, vests, soft toys, cot beds, bedsheets, and in general all newborn baby products. Some good baby shopping sites in India are Firstcry.com, My Baby Babbles, Yellow Doodle and Superbottoms.

Connect through touch and swaddle

It seems conspicuous yet you need to connect with your baby by showing him physical love as well. like holding, patting, letting him/her sleep or swaddling. The way a nurse gives you the baby in the hospital where he/she was all wrapped like a present just the face showing up is what is called swaddling.

Swaddling makes your baby feel more safe, secure, and warm. Swaddling is not something new and tricky, you just need to know the proper way to make your little baby feel comfy and cozy.

Show affection to your little one

The most essential activity is to understand your baby’s body language. They cannot speak, but the way they act and behave says a lot about their needs and requirements.

While having a good time with your baby, make eye contact, facial expressions, and kind of mimicking your child.

All these will help you eventually to develop strapping fondness and connect a bond between you and your little one.

Establish an everyday routine

Bring it on to routine everything you do with your baby on a regular basis. What would be best to improve and organize your little one's routine even before she/he arrives? Baby sleeps around 16 hours a day when newly born, and you can mold yourself according to their schedule of sleeping, feeding, playing, and other activities that you enjoy doing with your baby.

Lining up things with your infant from an early age would not just be thoughtful for you but for your baby as well when he/she will grow.

Communicate with your baby

Talking to your little one while soothing, swaddling, or carrying them makes them familiar with your voice. You can do storytelling or maybe sing a song that makes them feel comfortable and safe. They will start understanding your voice, meaning, and language and thus will be helpful for them with the growing age. And you get a brownie point for being an adorable dad :)

Persistently keep yourself updated with information

No matter how much you prepare yourself beforehand, you need to keep yourself updated with parenting stuff. Every day as you participate in daily activities with your baby, you will come up with more and more queries. Also, a baby’s activities, demands, and requirements also vary, and all you can do for that is keep yourself updated with parenting blogs, and browse through various baby and parent niche content and information.

There are a number of good reliable websites like www.yellowdoodle.com, that not only have all organic baby essentials but also parenting tips blogs as per the requirement of yours and your little ones.

Listen and understand

You will come across every other person on the street or your friends/ relatives advising you on one or the other thing. You can obviously listen to them but prioritize what your partner and baby try to communicate. Sometimes generic advice fails to work on every paradigm. So listen to yourself, what you feel, how things seem to you, and how you feel about your partner and baby. All these things not only will enhance the understanding but will build better family relationships.

Being a dad, you are gonna enter into a new phase of your life that will get you into higher emotions, even more care for your baby and partner, and a lot more things that you are not yet prepared about, but will surely get with time.

With tips and tricks provided in this blog, you would be able to better communicate with your baby and his/her needs. It is not just about gathering materialistic things for your baby but also the emotions, sentiments, and attachment you need to develop with your baby for his/her brain stimulation and development.
